Plan Now for Clean Water!

Your voice is needed to prevent uncontrolled development (aka sprawl) from polluting our waterways and hurting Humboldt Bay.  Our choices in the General Plan Update will determine whether we protect our waterways with good land use policy, or create a blueprint for sprawl that sends runoff from new development and increased stormwater pollution into the Bay.

Coastal Commission Honors Ted Halstead

Humboldt Baykeeper volunteer and Eureka resident Ted Halstead has earned state-level recognition for his dedication to keeping Liscom Slough free from trash and debris. Ted submitted an essay to the Coastal Stewards contest and was chosen as the number one defender of the California coast! Read his essay on the California Coastal Commission website along with other inspiring stories of coastal advocacy from around the state.

Ted and his wife Pam have been volunteering with Humboldt Baykeeper since our founding, as water quality monitors for Coastal Snapshot Day and First Flush. You can stop by the Baykeeper office for more info on Ted's good deeds - he wrote an essay for our first issue of Currents magazine. Way to go Ted!
