North Coast MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force meeting Mon. May 3, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tues. May 4, 8:30 a.m. to Noon.

The North Coast MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force will meet May 3-4 in Crescent City to review proposed Marine Protected Areas submitted by various stakeholder groups from Humboldt, Mendocino, and Del Norte Counties.
The meeting will be connected live via webcast to the Aquatic Center in Eureka, with a public comment period at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
Humboldt Baykeeper is urging the Blue Ribbon Task Force to prioritize: * The importance of meeting the science guidelines, which were not met by any of the alternatives (called "arrays") submitted by stakeholders. * Marine Protected Areas must be designed to effectively protect marine biodiversity. PUBLIC COMMENT The public is invited to offer general comments on subjects related to the work of the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF), not specific to an agenda item, at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Monday, May 3. Speaker cards are requested and may be found at the entrance to the room. Time allotted for public comment is determined by the number of requests; submitting written comments that can be easily summarized in one to two minutes is encouraged.
