Humboldt Baykeeper Office, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
California is leading the nation by establishing a statewide network of marine protected areas, underwater parks that protect our coastal resources and local fisheries from the impacts of climate change, habitat destruction, and other threats – and you have an opportunity to get involved! Humboldt Baykeeper has been working with policy makers, scientists, tribal representatives, fishermen and community leaders to design an initial map of protected areas from Point Arena to the Oregon border. We need your help to make this ocean protection effort work for our community and our coastal ecosystems! Join us on June 8th for MLPA Information Night hosted by Humboldt Baykeeper and the Ocean Conservancy. We will have a brief review of the MLPA process and suggestions on how you can get involved. For more info on the North Coast MLPA region, visit CalOceans and the Dept. of Fish & Game.
