Do you know why the eelgrass beds of Humboldt Bay are so important to the Pacific Coast? How the indigenous people of the North Coast related to this giant estuary? When Europeans first crossed between the north and south spit to enter the Bay? Who are the Bay’s greatest defenders and destroyers? You can find out all this and more through Bay Explorations, Humboldt Baykeeper’s floating tour program on Humboldt Bay. This year, Bay Explorations offers two ways to get out on the water: Boat Tours (FREE - Reservation Required) These classic tours continue aboard our 25-foot Boston Whaler that fits about five participants for each hour-long adventure. Children of all ages will enjoy learning about local history and ecology with knowledgeable volunteer docents. These free boat tours are a great way to spend a morning with family or friends, not to mention the best opportunity to see first-hand the waves and wildlife that make this place special.
Kayak Tours Bay Explorations invites you to grab a paddle and experience our new kayak tours. We’re partnering with HumBoats to offer people-powered excursions on the Bay, guided by the same expert volunteer docents who’ve made our motor boat tours a success. Kayak tours run for two hours with all equipment provided. Contact us today to find out more or sign up for your Bay Exploration!
