Bay Explorations

This year, Bay Explorations is expanding to offering free, docent-led tours of the Hikshari Trail on the Eureka waterfront. Thanks to support from the California Coastal Conservancy, our staff and docents will lead bilingual tours in Spanish and English.

You will enjoy learning about local history and ecology with our knowledgeable volunteer docents. These free tours are a great way to spend a morning with family or friends.

We will also be offering monthly boat or kayaking tours of the bay.

Hikshari’ Trail Tour for Native Plant Week, Sun. Apr. 12

Humboldt Baykeeper and Hikshari’ Trail Stewards invite the public to “Native vs. Non-Native Plants at the Edge of the Bay,” a free tour of Eureka's Hikshari’ Trail in celebration of Native Plant Week. Docent Susan Penn will share plants, ecology, and local history along a 3/4-mile section of this level trail. Meet the succulent pickleweed, the dreaded poison hemlock, and the cheerful seaside daisy.
