DescriptionInvasive dense‐flowered cordgrass (Spartina densiflora) threatens the biological diversity of the Humboldt Bay region’s rich salt marshes. An extensive effort to control Spartina is currently underway within the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, to be followed by control efforts throughout the Humboldt Bay region. The symposium will feature informational talks on the ecology and control of invasive Spartina. Local experts and scientists and managers from Spain, Argentina, Washington, Oregon, and San Francisco will share their latest research and experience to inform planning and control efforts in Humboldt Bay. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. Co-sponsored by the City of Eureka, Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation, and Conservation District, California State Coastal Conservancy, and Friends of the Dunes.
