A donation drive for the Humboldt Wildlife Care Center was held at the Oct. 8 Ocean Night, a monthly, all-ages event hosted by Humboldt Baykeeper, Humboldt Surfrider and Ocean Conservancy.

The feature film is WATER ON THE TABLE, a portrait of international water activist Maude Barlow and the debate over whether water is a commercial good or a human right. The camera shadows her life on the road--including an eye-opening visit to Alberta's tar sands--over the course of a year as she serves as the UN Senior Advisor on Water.

Next we will show YEAR ZERO, a modern take on high performance surfing set in a post-apocalyptic world, reminiscent of Mad Max or an HG Wells novel. It tells a story of a band of renegade surfers on a road trip through the apocalypse in search of waves, women, and good times.

The Humboldt Wildlife Care Center donation drive aims to help replenish HWCC's supplies after working to rehabilitate brown pelicans and other birds impacted by fish oil from local fish-cleaning stations. Some items they have requested are listed below. For their complete wish list, CLICK HERE. You can also help by sending checks to HWCC, PO Box 4141, Arcata, CA, 95518 or donate online.
